Sherema A . Fleming, RN

Founder/Executive Director

Cultured Movement was founded by Sherema Alicia Fleming, a Bronx, New York native and Registered Nurse who believes that health, fitness and wellness are essential to holistic living.  Sherema fell in love with dance when her mother enrolled her in a dance program at the age of 4; one of her highlights include dancing for sick children at Harlem Hospital. When the community dance program ended shortly after and her parents were unable to afford dance classes, Sherema became a self-taught Hip Hop dancer and vowed to open a low cost dance studio for youth. In 2009 the vision of Cultured Movement came to fruition, offering dance fitness classes for women and in 2013 extended to its nonprofit subsidiary, Cultured Movement Youth, offering free and subsidized dance classes to youth in the 5 boroughs. Sherema has spent the past 22 years honing her Hip Hop dance skills by performing and training in New York City and Los Angeles, along with encouraging others to have a higher consciousness of dance as an art form.
